Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer applies knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices in the design of electrical systems for engineering projects. The electrical engineer has responsibility for using engineering techniques, theory, principles, and practices in a specialized engineering field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and specifications of electrical power and lighting systems
- Assist in the preparation of designs in Revit and AutoCAD
- Systems include placing devices, notes, and drawing in AutoCAD/Revit for Circuiting, Lighting, Power, Solar, and associated low voltage systems like fire alarm/control devices
- Assist project team members with project deliverables and deadlines
- Read/Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Prepare calculations to establish appropriate sizing for infrastructure, equipment, and distribution
- Research, verify, review, and become familiar with local, state, and national code requirements
- Participate in project meetings during all phases of project
- Review contractor submittals to determine conformance with contract documents
- Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria required on assigned projects
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
- AutoCAD/Revit experience desired
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients
- High level of organization and attention to detail

Work environment
- This position requires most of the work to be accomplished in an office environment.
Physical demands
- This position requires sitting for periods of time at a computer with the freedom to walk around office when necessary; occasional phone, copy machine, and other office machine use; participate in teleconferences using a headset/earpiece, and lifting to 25 lbs. as needed. Some site visits will be required.
Travel required
- May require some travel (<5%), mostly to local job sites
- Valid Driver’s license is required.

Educational/Certification Requirement
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Successful completion of the Ohio State Board FE examination or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
Required Experience
- Experience with design of healthcare, education and/or government projects highly desired
- Electrical internship(s) a plus
- Ideal candidate would have 0 to 4 years of experience and be willing to learn/train on required software (independent learning will be required).
