Project Accountant/Biller

Stillwater Sciences, an environmental consulting company with approximately 70 full-time dedicated and enthusiastic employees throughout the Western US in seven offices, is seeking a mid-level Project Accountant based in either Berkeley or Davis, CA. This position requires a highly-motivated, take-charge individual that will be responsible for assisting PM’s with monthly billings, project set-ups, and close-outs. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the set-up of new projects in Deltek’s Vision software, including task codes, budgets and detailed billing terms per contract requirements
• Updating projects with new dates, budgets and/or tasks per contract amendments and MODs.
• Working with project managers on monthly T&M, Fixed Priced, Lump Sum, Daily Rates or other various types of project billing
• Running various project reports for project managers and assist or train project managers on how to run project reports and set up new project reports
• Maintaining well organized and complete project files
• Closing out completed projects and archiving the project folders and files
• Data entry and posting of accounts payable invoices related to assigned projects

Required qualifications include:

• Minimum 3–5 years of work experience performing project billing and set-up
• Experience with project or job cost accounting using ERP financial software system such as Deltek’s Vision (preferred) or Microsoft’s Dynamics SL or Dynamics GP, or other similar software
• Experience working in an environmental or professional services organization
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to effectively multi-task
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Strong interpersonnel communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong problem solving skills
• Confidence to interact with all levels of staff, agency representatives, and clients in a professional and courteous manner
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability and motivation to use creativity and logic in dealing with a broad range of business situations
• Versatility to work both independently and collaboratively
• Flexibility in working hours
• Personal integrity and sound judgment in working with confidential information
