Animal Science department at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is seeking 1-2 self-motivated PhD graduate research assistants in precision poultry farming. The individuals are expected to engage in cutting-edge research that addresses automation, welfare, and environment challenges in modern poultry production. Potential research topics include automatic poultry welfare and behavior monitoring, poultry robotics, artificial intelligence, environment monitoring and management, and sensoring. We encourage exceptional candidates with proved research experience in all abovementioned areas to apply the positions. The admission is expected in Summer or Fall 2021.

Applicants should have an earned B.S. or M.S. in agricultural engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, animal science, poultry science or related degree by the time of hiring. Strong skills in one or more programming languages are expected. Experience in image processing, machine learning, deep learning, and robotics are highly preferred. International applicants need to meet the requirements on English proficiency with a minimum score of 80 on internet-based TOEFL or 6.5 on IELTS.
