The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading and executing major capital and expense projects to ensure proper design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The role involves working with contractors, vendors, and internal resources in developing, controlling, and executing a variety of major capital projects to improve capacity, reliability, and EHS performance. Will oversee and direct the project contractors and track/maintain all costs of materials, construction, and installation. Will collaborate with EHS staff to ensure proper design and documentation for environmental and safety regulatory compliance. Furthermore will support operations and maintenance personnel (both hourly employees and management staff) in the troubleshooting of existing equipment and resolution of process problems.
Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred; will consider other engineering disciplines with chemicals industry experience.
10-15 years of major capital project management experience in oil/gas, refining, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, pulp/paper, power/utilities and/or paint/coatings industry.
Thorough Understanding of project management best practices, including FEL and stage-gating.
Upholds safety, health, environmental procedures, communicates directly and supports EHS department to ensure OSHA and EPA compliance.
Oversees external contractors and ensures they are receiving sufficient training/communication to ensure a "Safety First" culture.
Develops project scopes and timelines, generates and/or obtains cost estimates, and prepares appropriation funding requests.
Participates in other ad hoc assignments with other engineers and operations personnel.
Computer skills a MUST with in depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
