This position is a work from home and travel as needed position.
The Engineer Manager assists the Division/Deputy Division Directors in setting the engineering standards to be followed by the engineering department in the Eastern Soil Stabilization Division, ensuring those standards are consistent with the mission statement and core values of the company. The Engineering Manager assists in directing, coordination of activities of the engineering department and shares the responsibility for engineering related activities required for GSI.
Primary responsibility will be to mentor/coach current engineering staff to improve skill sets and make sure all company goals are achieved from an engineering perspective.
Participate in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives for the department.
Direct and coordinate activities of the Engineering Department for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives. Provide technical support and training for Engineering Staff. Responsible for the assisting with performance reviews of the Engineering Staff.
Assist and support the field management and sales in a technical manner as necessary to secure sales for the company, including value engineering, customer consultations.
Assist and support the field crews to provide a safe and efficient installation. 24-7 availability for on-site GSI personnel regarding engineering related questions, concerns, and methods.
Verbal and written communication with customers as necessary.
Make a concerted effort and develop programs for morale building among employees.
Create an environment of open communication and cultivate an atmosphere of cooperation between all Divisions and the Engineering Department.
Support the Safety Team as required in developing new processes to make the job sites safer work environments.
All aspects of project creation (site visits, estimating, engineering, project submittals, fostering new and ongoing relationships with clients, presenting technical presentations, attending technical conferences and submitting papers for publication).
Management (assist with directly overseeing and/or working with project managers, sales staff, and junior level engineers).
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college in a related engineering (Civil/Geotechnical) discipline.
Previous experience in the geotechnical construction industry required.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and slope stability software required.
Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills (written and oral), and ability work well as part of a team are all required.
