Position:Supplier Quality Engineer Department:Inventory Management Reports To:Supplier Development Manager Classification:Exempt
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for qualification, development and maintenance of EO Barrington (EOB) third-party suppliers. The SQE works closely with the Purchasing, Product Development, and Quality Assurance teams to meet corporate and departmental goals.
Responsible for developing and strengthening Supplier Management Programs
Continually work with suppliers to improve performance, implement process control and quality plans
Interact routinely with EOB Buyers and Suppliers to pro-actively improve quality of components
Work with Supplier Management and Product Development Teams to analyze and qualify potential suppliers
Develop and Maintain supplier quality metrics
Maintain and Report on Corrective Action Requests (CAR) trends
Oversee Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process
Maintain and Report on Returned Material Authorizations (RMA)
Perform supplier Quality Systems audits and provide support for supplier Quality Systems improvements
Develop new work processes, new tools and functional capabilities that improve product quality
Support the QA staff as needed
Lead and participate in problem solving and quality improvement teams throughout operation
Contribute to overall technical and management team
Average travel: 4 weeks domestically; 2 weeks internationally

Required Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Principles and other statistical analysis Quality Tools
Experience in ISO-9001 Certification in a Manufacturing Environment
Experience in auditing manufacturing operations
Experience in problem solving and quality improvement processes and teams
Knowledge of optical performance testing and inspection methods/equipment desired
Good communication (written and verbal) skills
Effective team/interpersonal skills
Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
US Citizenship or permanent residence required
Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or technical discipline or equivalent experience; 2+ years technical experience in a Manufacturing Environment
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and operate office equipment such as a copier; ability to see details at a close range; ability to sit at desk or PC for long periods of time; ability to travel.
